Last Day of Classes for 2012!

In the morning we gathered for our House League Assembly.

Mr. B and the students performed our new School Song.

Mr. Macapagal and Mr. Maz learned some new steps from our Gr. 8's

and were joined by the rest of the school.

In the afternoon the students and teachers took to the court for the annual Volleyball Challenge.

The fans were enthusiastic…

the games were close…

and in the end 'fun' was the winner!

In Sport WE are One

Arms Bumanlag (CKLW) interviewed St. John Vianney students on Tuesday about their Pilot Project "In Sport WE are One".  This initiative invites the education sector, health care providers and others to combine their commitment to "Healthy Living" into a comprehensive and integrated strategy, challenging our entire community to adopt the "In Sport We Are One... Healthy Living Pledge".  The students are leading by example to make "the change" and improve lifestyles.

SJV Shares for Christmas

Friday's assembly to share our donations with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was a great success.

The assembly started out with a Flash Mob of Christmas Carolers.

Our guests from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul were inspired by the generosity of the SJV School Community.
And the assembly finished up with some student presentations and some festive dancing to Christmas music.

Welcome!

The St. John Vianney Community extends a warm welcome to Mr. John Mazloumian.  Mr. Mazloumian is currently the vice-principal at St. Bernard, Amherstburg.  He will be on site at SJV shadowing Mr. Macapagal on Friday, December 14, 2012 and will begin his new role on Monday, December 17, 2012.

Bon Voyage

It is with great excitement and pride that we share this great news for Mr. Macapagal.
Congratulations on your recent appointment to Principal of St. Peter's Catholic Elementary School.

Mr. Macapagal's last day at SJV will be this Friday, December 14th.  He will spend the following week working alongside the outgoing (retiring) principal.  On Monday, January 7th, Mr. Macapagal will take over the reigns.

Although Mr. Macapagal will be missed by all of us, it is time for him to move in this well-deserved, new direction.

St. Peter's is very fortunate to have Mr. Macapagal joining their community.

Mad Science Visits SJV

Super Justin from Mad Science amazed and educated our Grade 1-5 students and turned our gym into a giant science lab.  The students raced tornadoes, experienced thunder, lightning and a forest fire along with other exciting scientific phenomena.  Don't be surprised if your child asks you to sign them up for the after school program that takes place in the New Year.
